- Abstract
- Providing a way of home food production and food security, urban agriculture has grown in popularity among households in cities throughout the world. The purpose of this study was to ascertain how urban crop production in Bindura, Zimbabwe, contributes to household food security. The study evaluated the determinants impacting household food security and the effect of urban crop production using a mixed-methods methodology. After data were gathered, it was evident that urban crop production greatly enhanced household food security, as respondents reported fewer food shortages and easier access to a wider variety of nutrient-dense foods.
