- Abstract
- Zimbabwe has been facing challenges concerning power outages in recent past years leading to distraction of functional of tertiary education. The use of generator as alternative source of energy during power cuts in tertiary institutions has been implemented. The research project was undertaken to determine the efficiency use of generators as backup for electricity power rationing at BUSE, Main campus.A total of 40respondents where provided information through questionnaires and interviews and aslo observation was carried out.The study revealed that the backup power is important because their are massive data for very student be it graduated and undergraduate which is kept at the institution. Lack of power can bring down the IT security systems and leave the institution susceptible to attacks by hackers. With this insight, the study recommended the sustainable use of renewable sources of energy, such as solar as itprovides cheap and clean energy.
