The purpose of the study was to examine the role of digital technologies and social media in peacebuilding efforts within Ward 2 of the Mutare Central Constituency in Zimbabwe. As the nation grapples with historical tensions and socio-political challenges, the advent of digital platforms offers new avenues for dialogue, community engagement, and conflict resolution. This study employs a popular method in social sciences research that involves in depth examination of a single or focus group of cases. Focus groups and semi structured interviews are two qualitative data collection methods that enable the researcher to acquire information directly. with community members, civil society organizations, and traditional leaders. The study used securitization theory, and it reveal that social media serves as a vital tool for fostering communication among community members, enabling the dissemination of information related to peace initiatives, and facilitating grassroots mobilization. Additionally, digital platforms have been instrumental in amplifying marginalized voices, thereby promoting inclusivity in peace discussions. However, the research also identifies challenges, including the spread of misinformation and the digital divide that limits access for some community members. The study argues that while digital technologies and social media hold significant potential for enhancing peacebuilding efforts in Zimbabwe, strategic interventions are necessary to mitigate associated risks and ensure that these tools contribute effectively to sustainable peace in the region. Key recommendations for the study include fostering partnerships between community organizations, NGOs, and government entities, establishing clear regulatory framework that advocate policies that protect freedom of expression develop programs aimed at increasing access to digital technologies and improving digital skills among marginalized groups an encourage grassroots initiatives that leverage social media for peacebuilding, such as community dialogues and awareness. Keywords are digital technologies, social media, peacebuilding and securitization theory.
