The study analyses the causes of drug abuse by children in Mazowe District, Mashonaland Central Province in Zimbabwe. The study was guided by the following objectives; to determine the factors causing the increase in drug abuse among children in Mazowe District, to assess the impact of drug abuse on children in Mazowe District and to offer recommendations on ways through which drug abuse may be reduced among children in Mazowe District. This study used a descriptive survey design to find out the impact of drug abuse on children. Questionnaire and interviews were the instruments used to collect data. The target population in this study were 250 respondents drawn from the children, members of the ZRP and agents of socialisation. The sample was derived using Judgemental and Convenient sampling techniques. The mean and the standard deviation were used to see the trends in the data. The results of the study reviewed that Marijuana was frequently abused by children in Mazowe District and that factors such as peer pressure, low self-esteem, and availability of drugs contributed to the abuse of drugs. The abuse of these drugs has led to criminal behaviour, poor performance, absenteeism, and low concentration in class.
