The impact of gender-based violence on young women: a case of Chinhoyi urban
- Abstract
- The purpose of the study was to understand the impact of Gender Based Violence on young women aged between 18and 24 years focusing on Chinhoyi urban. The study used qualitative research method and a case study research design as a popular method in social science research that involves an in-depth examination of a single case or a group of cases. The target population was young women aged between 18 and 24 years and a sample of fifty participants was used. The study made use of interviews, focus-group discussions and documentary sources as data collection methods. The study examines the negative impacts of Gender Based Violence on young women. The study also examines the various factors that lead to Gender Based Violence and also examines the challenges faced by different institutions when solving cases of Gender Based Violence on young women. The study made recommendations to the government and all the stakeholders that are involved in Gender Based Violence issues to mobilize resources, train more personnel, empower the women and mobilize the community to fight against Gender Based Violence.
