- Abstract
- This study sought an investigation into challenges faced by schools in Masvingo district when integrating co-curriculum activities related to physics concepts in their teaching programs. The researcher used qualitative research design. The current study was conducted in school two schools in Masvingo district in Zimbabwe. This study can add ideas and science process skills required for integrating co-curricular activities into teaching physics programmes in secondary schools. The research findings may help the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in realizing challenges faced by schools administrators and teachers in integrating co-curricular activities inclusive of various sporting activities, games, debates, music, drama, science clubs in school programmes. Co-curricular activities provide motivation for learning give learners avenues of socialization, self-identification and self-assessment which generally improves the learners‟ academic performance. The purpose of this study was to assist teachers with strategies that would enable them to integrate co- curricular activities in the teaching and learning processes so as to improve learners‟ academic performance.
