- An Investigation on the factors leading to poor performance in science subjects specifically chemistry and physics among ordinary, the case study of Mauya Adventist High School.
- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to look into the reasons behind the subpar science performance of ordinary level pupils at Mauya Adventist High School in Murombedzi, with a focus on chemistry and physics. Twenty-four individuals, or 20.6% of the entire population, took part in the study. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. The study's conclusions showed that the school is having difficulty keeping the science department's pass rate in chemistry constant. Budgeting for scientific resources and incorporating ICT into the teaching-learning process have been identified as crucial aspects to be addressed among the recommended strategies for procuring laboratory instruments. Finally, the study finds that intervention methods are necessary in order to raise the pass rate. Students' motivation and self-efficacy in science topics can be increased by fostering a positive attitude toward learning, resilience in the face of difficulties, and a belief in the possibility of improvement.
