- Abstract
- This study investigates the impact of OER and multimedia on students’ academic performance in biology education as a subject. The sample was of 50 students of Manga Secondary School in Bindura Rural District. Purposive sampling technique was adapted for selecting the sample of the study. The students were taught using OER and multimedia tools and the date of the study was collected through the use of interviews, test and questionnaires. Through the use of quasi experimental design in which to compare test scores of students whilst using OER and multimedia and others make use of traditional methods of teaching and learning. The results shows a clear improvement in test scores and the increase in students’ engagement. The findings suggested that OER and multimedia can enhance biology education and provides implications to both teachers and policy makers. The study also recommended more and deeper research on OER and multimedia approach in teaching biology concepts among ordinary level.
