- Abstract
- With the COVID-19 erapassed, we are now living with the aftereffects of COVID-19. COVID-19 has come and gone but the aftereffects are still felt today because they have different sectors including education in using technology. We have seen penetration of technology in terms of ownership by individuals whereas in schools, technology adoption fell behind individual ownership trends. People have learnt new ways of doing things like teaching and learning technology within and outside the classroom to an extent that we have seen Kenville High being one of the schools using technology. However, the effectiveness of technology in this area remains understudied and research is beginning to uncover its impact especially in improving student engagement and homework performance. To archieve this we start follows mixed research method where qualitative and quantitative data was collected through online interviews and questionnaires that were distributed to Form 2 learners interviewed. To analyse the qualitative data, Microsoft excel 2016 was used to analyse data in form of tables and bar graphs. A sample of 20learner respondents was selected through a purposive sampling method. From the findings of the study, it was noted that technology when used in doing activities, it helped students todevelop digital skills that they lack and they are now able to share and discuss access content making them also core creators. Students have learnt that the teacher is not only the source of the information. The researcher observed that technology gave the voice to the voiceless because everyone was participating. On the side of the challenges, it is something that cannot be over emphasised with the economic situation we have in the country not all the students are able to own the technology, so they hotspot the information from the parents, sisters and relatives who at times when they give them, they give them with conditions probably limited time and limited usage of data making it kind of hindrance to the skill development of students. Students enjoy using this technology because digital students in as much as they may not be lacking the content but when it comes to learning with technology, it gives them motivation. These findings were go a long way and it recognise decision making when it comes to the decision making of infrastructure.
