- Abstract
- This study explores the effectiveness of mixed ability grouping as a teaching approach to improve mathematics pass rate at ordinary level. A quasi-experimental design was employed, with a non-equivalent control group sampling technique used to select 58 pupils. Questionnaires, observations, and pre-test and post-test assessments were used to collect data. The results show a significant improvement in mathematics achievement among pupils in the mixed ability grouping experimental group, compared to the control group. The study highlights the potential of mixed ability grouping to promote inclusive learning, enhance student motivation, and improve mathematics outcomes. The findings have implications for teaching practices and educational policy, suggesting that mixed ability grouping may be a valuable strategy to support student success in mathematics.
