- Abstract
- The aim of the study was to investigate the impact of the question and answer as a method of teaching on the overall performance and knowledge in chemistry at O’level. A mixed method research design was chosen for this Study. Three High Schools in Chivi District participated in the study. Fifty (50) students were randomly selected and questionnaires administered. Qualitative data was collected through questionnaires and was presented and analyzed through SPSS. The collected and analyzed data results showed that learners who underwent their education though the question and answer methods had better chances of passing their summative examinations but it has also revealed that those learners lacked applications skills and in -depth knowledge that could be used to solve real life problems .. The researcher here recommended that teachers must focus on first covering the whole content set in the syllabus, use practical methods and use the question and answer to check if the entire syllabus has been covered.
