- Abstract
- This research investigates the prevalence and impact of mathematics anxiety among ordinary level students at a rural school in Zimbabwe. The study explores the factors contributing to this anxiety, including sociocultural influences, teaching methodologies, and individual learning styles. Through quantitative and qualitative data collection methods, such as surveys, interviews, and classroom observations, the research aims to identify the specific challenges faced by students and teachers in addressing mathematics anxiety. The findings will inform the development of targeted interventions and pedagogical strategies designed to alleviate mathematics anxiety and improve students’ mathematical performance and overall learning experience within the specific context of a rural Zimbabwean school. The study contributes to the existing literature by providing a localized understanding of mathematics anxiety within a resource-constrained environment and offering practical recommendations for improving mathematics education in similar settings.
