- Abstract
- This research examines the effect of electronic government procurement system adoption on health care delivery for a specific health care facility in Mashonaland Central, Zimbabwe. Adopting the quantitative method, this research sought to evaluate the effect of electronic government procurement efficiency adoption and hence quality of health care service delivery. Data were collected by way of structured questions sent via e-mail to a target group of 41 members who are procurement officers, administrative healthcare and IT staff. Various statistical correlation, descriptive statistics and ANOVA were applied in the analysis by way of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The results of this research indicate that there is significant positive correlation between e-government procurement usage and availability of supply improvement, cost reduction and timeliness achievements. Nevertheless, benefits and drawbacks like poor ICT infrastructure and a lack of training of staff were realized as part of the implementation process. The research suggests that capacity building, policy framework and infrastructure electronic investment will result in the efficient usage of electronic government process.
