Abstract

This research focused on the pedagogic approaches adopted by the teachers in teaching Physics at ‘A’ Level; sampling with Mzilikazi High School in Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, Reigate District. The researcher had to get a confirmation letter from the supervising institution so that he used to acquire the mandatory letter from the School Head which will serve as a permissive document granting him permission for sourcing information from Mzilikazi High School needed for the research survey. The researcher used the result analysis table prepared by the school for year 2023 and the SRCG where he managed to extract a detailed A Level Physics pass rate breakdown by syllabus component, questionnaire and interviews to collect data from the teachers and learners. Different teaching methods were used such as exposition method, group work method and experimental method. The researcher also recommends that the science teachers should develop a tendency of using experimental method. Learning aids like charts, models, realia and equipment should be used properly and accordingly to suit learners’ needs and ability, have a great impact in facilitating the effectiveness of learning-teaching process for efficient acquisition of useful scientific knowledge. The researcher values the use of the Resource persons, panel discussion and field trips by the teachers to accomplish adequate pupils’ understanding and attainment of syllabus objectives on various topics in Advanced Level Physics especially, “Modern Physics, Electricity and Magnetism, Oscillations and Waves and Electronics”
