- A Model for the adoption of ICT for the survival and growth of SMEs in Zimbabwe: case of Prime Galaxy Investments, Adel’s cleaning services, and Max plumbing solutions
- Abstract
- This study explores the adoption of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for business survival and growth among Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Zimbabwe, using Prime Galaxy Investment, Adel’s cleaning services and Max Plumbing solutions as case studies. The study aims is to formulate a framework for the adoption of ICT by SMEs which can be used by SMEs in Zimbabwe as an instrument of business survival. The research aims to investigate how ICT tools and platforms influence operational efficiency, customer engagement, and overall business sustainability within the SME sector. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining qualitative interviews and quantitative questionnaires administered to key employees and management at Prime Galaxy Investment. The findings reveal that ICT adoption has significantly contributed to business continuity by enhancing communication, marketing, financial management, and supply chain operations. However, challenges such as limited funding, digital skills gaps, and unreliable internet infrastructure hinder optimal utilization. The study concludes that effective ICT integration is vital for SME resilience, especially in volatile economic environments. Recommendations include increased investment in ICT training, government incentives for SME digitization, and infrastructure development to support digital transformation in the sector
