- Abstract
- This study focused on the impact of AI chatbots in teaching and learning on selected schools in Chivi District, Zimbabwe. The study objectives aimed to assess the current integration of AI technologies in selected schools in Chivi district. Identify challenges faced by educators in implementing AI Chatbots in teaching and analyze the impact of AI Chatbots on students’ academic performance across various subjects. The study adopted a mixed method approach research design as such data was collected using surveys and interviews. A sample size of 300 participants that comprised of students and educators were recruited for the study using stratified sampling technique and a sample of 30 participants were recruited using purposive sampling. SPSS and thematic data analysis were adopted as data analysis methods for this study. The study was guided by the social cognitive theory as the theoretical framework. The study found out that the integration of AI technologies in Zimbabwean classroom is limited, only 40%of schools currently utilizing these tools. The study identified several challenges faced by educators in implementing AI chatbots, including technological barriers and varying attitudes towards AI. The study showed a positive correlation between the use of AI chatbots and improvements in academic performance across subjects. The study recommended that there should be adequate infrastructure and Technological tools for implementation to be easy, schools should allow students to bring their gadgets to schools and given time to use them during the learning period.
