- Abstract
- This research investigates the impact of AI-based problem-solving tools on enhancing students' mathematical skills at the ordinary level, with a particular focus on a case study of Chiwaridzo Secondary School in Bindura. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, collecting quantitative data through surveys and qualitative insights via interviews with teachers and students. The findings reveal that the integration of AI tools significantly improves student engagement, critical thinking, and overall problem-solving abilities. Approximately 65% of students reported enhancements in their critical thinking skills attributed to the use of these technologies, indicating a strong correlation between AI tool usage and cognitive development. However, the research also identifies several challenges that hinder the effective implementation of these tools. Technical issues, including software glitches and connectivity problems, were reported by 40% of teachers as major barriers to successful integration. Additionally, a lack of adequate training for educators emerged as a critical concern, with many teachers feeling unprepared to utilize these resources effectively. Accessibility issues further compound these challenges, as disparities in technology access can limit opportunities for some students. In light of these findings, the research recommends the development of comprehensive training programs for educators, aimed at enhancing their technical proficiency and pedagogical strategies for using AI tools. Establishing robust technical support systems is also crucial to address technical difficulties promptly. Ensuring equitable access to technology for all students is imperative to maximize the effectiveness of AI tools in the classroom. Furthermore, fostering collaborative learning environments and strategically integrating AI tools into the curriculum are emphasized as essential strategies for optimizing the educational benefits of these technologies.
