Abstract

This study investigates the impact of block chain technology on enhancing supply chain resilience within the logistics industry, focusing on a case study of DHL, a leading global logistics provider. Traditional logistics systems face vulnerabilities stemming from information asymmetry, lack of transparency, and susceptibility to disruptions. Block chain, with its decentralized, immutable, and transparent characteristics; present a promising avenue for enhancing resilience. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, drawing upon DHL white papers, industry reports, and academic literature, to examine the specific applications of block chain across DHL's operations, including track and trace, customs clearance, and supply chain finance. The study analyzes how block chain initiatives contribute to enhanced visibility, reduced transaction costs, and improved dynamic capabilities, which are the key factors in building supply chain resilience. While direct, peer-reviewed empirical studies on DHL's block chain implementations are limited, the synthesized evidence suggests that block chain technology has the potential to improve supply chain resilience by enabling proactive disruption management, fostering greater trust among stakeholders, and streamlining processes. However, challenges related to scalability, interoperability, and regulatory uncertainty must addressed for successful block chain adoption. The findings will contributes to a deeper understanding of the practical implications of block chain for building resilient logistics operations and offer valuable insights for other organizations seeking to leverage this transformative technology.
