- Outsourcing as a strategic tool has attracted much attention in recent years. Many organizations chose outsourcing as a tool of competitive advantage. Outsourcing is a complex process and improper strategy pathway can create formidable barriers against firm performance. Employing the core competency theory, this Study systematically investigates the firm outsourcing strategy design, operation model and impact on operation performance. It also makes a comprehensive analysis on the relationship between core competency and outsourcing. As such, this study tried to ascertain the significant effects of outsourcing strategies on the organizational performance of the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council in regards cost reduction, customer relationship and operational performance. A survey of conveniently chosen 34 Schools was conducted in the city of Harare, Zimbabwe. The informants for schools were competent drivers and headmasters. A factorial MANOVA were conducted. The study indicated statistically significant main effects and interaction effects for all the factors and concluded that all the indicators of the organizational performance are relational in all variables. The study found that outsourcing of transport services at The Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council has the ability to proffer quality services, improved delivery time and reduce operational costs. Also the study discovered that outsourcing of certain technical aspects of business that has to do with knowledge and professionalism enhance customers’ relationship. The study recommends that The Zimbabwe Schools Examination should sustain business relationships that would assists in transaction negotiation with outsourcing vendors to boost the operational performance.
