- Abstract
- The study was carried out to determine the effects of field trips on biology students’ academic achievement. The research design used in this study is descriptive design, utilizing questionnaire method to obtain information from the respondents for this study. A total of 22 that is 20 students and 2 science teachers were selected for this study. Data was collected using questionnaire and interviews. The hypothesis tested showed that field trips field trips has significance effect on biology achievement at Chabata High in Buhera South, Manicaland. The study will beneficial to the government by enabling them recruit and also train effective biology teachers. Also, the government will be able to fund field excursions for students to learn from and as biology is a more practical topic than theory, the study will be very helpful to the field of study as a whole. Based on findings, it was recommended that Government in conjunction with other professional bodies should sponsor further research on the use of field trips teaching method. Also, regular field trips should be organized forbiology students so as to give them the needed exposure.
