- Abstract
- This study examined how teams in Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League (ZPSL) develop organizational resilience amid persistent challenges such as financial instability, poor governance, and inadequate infrastructure. Using a mixed-method approach, researchers gathered quantitative data from 100 questionnaire respondents and qualitative insights from 20 in-depth interviews involving players, coaches, administrators, sponsors, media, fans, and community members. Data were analyzed using SPSS for statistical relationships (e.g., ANOVA, correlations) and NVivo for thematic analysis. Results showed that while ZPSL teams possess some informal awareness of resilience, they lack structured, long-term strategies to manage risks. Effective practices identified included visionary leadership, diversified revenue generation, youth talent development, and stakeholder engagement. Major obstacles were political interference, inconsistent funding, and limited technology use. Despite constraints such as scarce local literature and restricted participant access, the study ensured credibility through data triangulation and anonymity. It concludes that resilience remains mostly theoretical within ZPSL, recommending capacity building, digital transformation, and formal stakeholder strategies. The research contributes a context-specific resilience framework tailored for resource-limited sports organizations.
