- Abstract
- The purpose of the study was to assess the impact of ICT integration in mathematics teaching-learning in Chigara Cluster of Chikomba District. It was hypothesised that there was no significant difference in the academic achievement of mathematics learners in Chigara Cluster of Chikomba District who use ICT integrated teaching methods compared to those who use traditional teaching methods. In pursuit of these hypotheses, the researcher wanted to assess whether this was true despite the fact that other learners pass mathematics and others fail. Mixed methods research design was used. Surveys from five (5) school administrators and five (5) mathematics teachers as well as teacher questionnaires were designed to probe on the availability and use of ICT infrastructure in the teaching-learning of mathematics in schools. School administrators and teachers of seven schools in Chigara Cluster of Chikomba District were the targeted population of which five of these schools were sampled representing 71.4%, which allowed for the generalisation of the research findings in Chigara Cluster of Chikomba District. After an analysis of these collected data, this research revealed that organisation of staff development sessions by school administrators and attending to them at different levels was commendable. Moreover, the teachers and school administrators’ awareness of ICT infrastructure would assist them to choose the best ICT tools when teaching various mathematics concepts. However, schools in Chigara Cluster of Chikomba District lack ICT infrastructure. It is imperative to revisit policy frameworks on financing schools in resettlement areas like the Chigara Cluster of Chikomba District.
