- Abstract
- Forest fires pose a significant threat to the environment, economy and communities in many regions around the world. Henceforth this study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of forest fire management and monitoring strategies in the Mazowe rural district of Zimbabwe from the perspective of key stakeholder. The study employed qualitative approach including interviews and questioners to assess the perceptions and experiences of local communities, government agencies, and no governmental organizations involved in fire management. It investigated the current policies, resources, and coordination mechanism in place for fire prevention, detection and suppression, as well as the challenges and barriers to their effective implementation. The data collected provides insight into the strengths and weaknesses of the existing fire management strategies, and identifies the opportunities for improving coordination, resource allocation and community participation. The research also explores the role of emerging technologies, such as early warning system in enhancing fire monitoring and response capabilities, under a sample size of 650. The research also have some recommendations which reads, development of a comprehensive forest fire management plan incorporating stakeholder inputs, engage community engagement and education on Forest fire prevention an management and improve resource allocation and funding for forest fire management in Mazowe Rural area.
