- Abstract
- This study focused on the development of a whistle-blower framework to promote integrity in Zimbabwean Elite Football, a sector increasingly plagued by corruption, match-fixing, bribery, and financial mismanagement. The research employed a mixed-methods approach to gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities surrounding whistleblowing within the sport. Quantitative data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS, while qualitative insights from interviews were examined using NVivo software. Findings revealed that fear of retaliation, absence of formal reporting channels, and a culture of silence significantly hinder whistleblowing efforts. Participants emphasized the need for a secure, confidential, and supportive environment that encourages reporting without fear. Based on these insights, the study proposes a whistle-blower framework that incorporates key components such as anonymity, trust-building mechanisms, stakeholder education, and legal protections. The framework aims to strengthen governance, foster transparency, and ultimately restore integrity in Zimbabwean Elite Football by empowering stakeholders to report misconduct safely and confidently.
