- Abstract
- This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of HIV interventions targeting young people in Bindura, Zimbabwe. The main question guiding this study was: How effective are the HIV interventions in reducing prevalence rates among the young people of Bindura? The specific objectives were to identify the types of HIV interventions targeted to young people in Bindura, investigate challenges of implementing HIV interventions, and make recommendations for improving and strengthening HIV interventions. This study employed a qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews with young people and stakeholders involved in HIV interventions. The findings revealed that while various HIV interventions are available to young people in Bindura, their effectiveness is hindered by challenges such as limited access to healthcare services, stigma, and lack of youth-friendly facilities. The study concludes that addressing these challenges is crucial to improving the effectiveness of HIV interventions and recommends increasing funding for youth-friendly services, enhancing community engagement and participation, promoting peerled initiatives, addressing stigma and discrimination, and improving access to healthcare services. The study's findings and recommendations can inform policy and practice, and contribute to improving health outcomes among young people in Bindura. Further studies can build on the findings of this research by exploring other aspects of HIV interventions targeting young people in Bindura, such as evaluating the effectiveness of specific interventions and examining the impact of socio-cultural and economic factors on HIV prevention and treatment behaviors.
