Road traffic accidents (RTAs) continue to pose significant challenges to safety, productivity and economic stability globally, particularly in the transport sector. While many studies have explored the causes of RTAs through Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) frameworks, limited attention has been given to the role of fleet management (FMTs) in enhancing driver safety and operational efficiency. This study aimed to assess the KAP of long-distance drivers towards FMTs, specifically GPS tracking, dash cams, and driver behaviour monitory Systems, at Nick’s Motors in Zimbabwe. A total of 30 drivers participated in a structured questionnaire survey and results were presented using descriptive statistics. Findings revealed high awareness levels (100%) and a good overall knowledge score regarding FMTs. However only 46.6% of drivers reported a strong understanding of how these technologies function. Attitudes towards FMTs were fair (58.7%), with high concerns around privacy and being monitored. Practice scores were relatively strong (75.6%), indicating frequent use and adherence to FMT protocols, supported by formal training and responsible reporting of system malfunctions. espite the presence and awareness of these technologies, gaps in understanding and mixed attitudes may limit their effectiveness in improving road safety. The study concludes that targeted interventions, including enhanced training and awareness programs, are essential for maximising the impact of FMTs in reducing fatigue–related incidents and improving driver safety. The research contributes to the emerging discourse on integrating technology with driver behaviour to enhance fleet safety outcomes.
