Title: The Socio-economic impact of Gokwe centre expansion on Msauki village
Abstract: This dissertation examines the socio economic impact of Gokwe Centre expansion on Msauki Village, focusing on the effects of urbanization on rural communities. The study employs a mixed methods approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods. T he findings reveal that the expansion of Gokwe Centre has had both positive and negative impacts on Msauki Village. On the one hand, the expansion has brought new economic opportunities, improved infrastructure, and enhanced access to services. On the other hand, it has also led to displacement, loss of livelihoods, and environmental degradation. The study recommends that policymakers and stakeholders adopt a more inclusive and sustainable approach to urban development, prioritizing the needs and rights of local communities. The research contributes to the existing literature on urbanization and rural development, highlighting the need for more nuanced and context specific approaches to understanding the socio economic impacts of urban expansion on rural com munities.
