This presentation is rooted on a great study whose purpose was to investigate the integration of ICT in teaching and learning of chemistry in Makonde District, Zimbabwe. The study employed two data collection instruments, questionnaires and
structured interview to collect data. The research was carried out in one secondary school in Makonde district. Descriptive statistics was used to analyse the data. Findings from the study indicated that ICT is integrated at a lesser extent due to some challenges. It went on to brought to light that there are quite a number of factors which are hindering the extent to which teachers should be integrating technology in teaching and learning. The findings explicitly showed that lack of resources, poor infrastructure, poor connectivity, inadequate knowledge and skills and interrupted power supply in schools are the major cause of poor integration of technology in teaching and learning of chemistry. The study ended up recommending that adequate resources be put in place so that the integration of technology is done in teaching and learning. It recommends school with
the aid of stakeholders to build proper computer laboratories, arrange workshops for in-service
teachers on how to use technology as a teaching tool.
Teacher training institutions were encouraged to revisit their curriculum that ICT be done not as appreciation as a method of teaching and learning rather. - Date
