The study sought to investigate the effectiveness of the integration of Artificial Intelligence in the study of Mathematics in secondary schools in Zimbabwe. The Fourth Industrial Revolution has ushered in a new phenomenon of Artificial Intelligence in education and Zimbabwe lags behind in the implementation of the new teaching and learning strategies. Thus the research aimed to establish the effectiveness of integrating AI in the teaching and learning of Mathematics in secondary schools. The research used a pragmatism paradigm which gave the research freedom to select the most appropriate methods to gather data. A descriptive analytical approach was used. The research also used the mixed methods research methodology and used questionnaires, face to face interviews and direct observations to obtain data. Purposeful Sampling was used to select Drake High School in Kwekwe District because it enrols students from a variety of backgrounds which helped in establishing the influence of socio-economic factors in the integration of AI in the study of Mathematics in secondary schools. Stratified sampling technique
was employed to select 15 boys and 15 girls while the Total Population sampling selected all the 6 Mathematics teachers at the school. The study established that Artificial Intelligence is already
being used in the teaching and learning in schools and both teachers and learners’ perceptions are
positive towards integration. Learners’ performances have improved. AI integration can enhance student learning outcomes and teacher effectiveness if implemented properly. A number of gaps were noticed which include lack of access to AI tools by economically disadvantaged learners, lack of training among teachers and lack of proper infrastructure in schools. Suggestions were made that if properly implemented; AI integration can be effective and improve overall performances in Mathematics education in Zimbabwe - Date
