- Abstract
- This study sought to explore factors influencing the integration of educational technologies into Ordinary Level Mathematics teacher’s experience. Data generation, analysis, and discussion were grounded in an interpretivist paradigm and qualitative approach. The researcher used document analysis, lesson observations and interviews sourcing data. In this study, six teachers selected using purposive sampling procedure. The generated data was analysed according to themes derive from the sub-research questions. From the analysed and discussed data it was noted that the selected participants had an appreciation of educational technologies as tools that facilitate the shift from the traditional approach to learning towards innovative and collaborative learning in Ordinary Level Mathematics. It was also revealed that technologies through various methods like inquiry-based learning, problem-solving, demonstration technologies such as smartphones, laptops, television, etc. were being used in Ordinary Level Mathematics teaching and learning. However, numerous challenges were encountered when integrating technologies into Ordinary Level Mathematics teaching and learning. From the findings, it can be concluded that from the teachers’ the integration of educational technologies into Ordinary Level Mathematics teaching and learning at the selected school was influenced by numerous factors, such as the availability of the requisite gadgets, etc. the study recommends that the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education needs to allocate more funding towards the improvement of the ICT infrastructure.
