- The widespread utilization of social media by high school students has sparked concerns regarding its influence on scholastic achievement. This study seeks to explore the impact of social media usage on the academic performance of secondary students. Employing the use of questionnaires on both secondary students and teachers to gather comprehensive data, the results unveil a nuanced correlation between social media usage and academic performance, shedding light on both favourable and adverse effects. While social media facilitates communication and information dissemination, it also presents challenges such as distractions and diminished study time. The research underscores the necessity for a balanced approach to social media usage and proposes methods to foster responsible and constructive interaction with social media among secondary students. Grasping the intricacies of social media's impact is imperative for educators, parents, and policymakers in aiding students to navigate the digital landscape while upholding academic achievement.
