Data generation, analysis and interpretation were grounded in intepretivist paradigm and qualitative approach. In generation of data, the following methods were used: document analysis and an interview. Purposive sampling was used to select Ordinary Level Combined Science teachers and school-based supervisors. The data generated was analysed according to emerging themes. From the study it was revealed that the Ordinary Level Combined Science teaching and learning was guided by several educational policies (i.e., P4/2024). It was noted that methods such discussions, demonstration, problem-based approach and inquiry-based approach were mostly used in Ordinary Level Combined Science teaching and learning. In addition, the findings indicated that these methods were employed to engage learners actively in Ordinary Level Combined Science teaching and learning activities. From the findings it can be concluded that numerous challenges were faced by learners when participating in Ordinary Level Combined Science teaching and learning. From the findings the study recommended that the educational policies should be revised to address the gap between ideal and reality to ensure alignment with practical realities.
