- Abstract
- This study sought to explore Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) and factors influencing their integration on Ordinary Level Combined Science teaching and learning at selected secondary school. In this study, data generation, analysis, and discussion were guided by the qualitative approach. Documents analysis and interviews were used in generating data from the relevant sources and participants. Purposive sampling was used in coming up with a sample that comprised 4 teachers and 15 Ordinary Level Combined Science learners. Generated data were analyzed according to themes derived from the formulated research questions. From the discussion, it was revealed that the participants acknowledged the importance of integrating ICTs into Ordinary Level Combined Science learning. It was also noted that when integrating ICTs into Ordinary Level Combined Science teaching and learning, both learner-centred and teacher-centred approaches were being used at the selected school. In addition, challenges faced when integrating ICTs into Ordinary level Combined Science teaching and learning were highlighted and possible strategies to reduce their impact were indicated. From the findings it can be concluded that the integration of ICTs into Ordinary Level Combined Science teaching and learning was influenced by numerous factors. The research recommends that adequate resources be put in place such the state of the ICTs infrastructure can be improved.
