- Abstract
- The main aim of this research was to investigate the challenges and opportunities experienced when Information and Communication Technology tools are applied in teaching and learning of Physics in five selected secondary schools in Sanyati District. The research objectives includes; to examine the extent to which Information and Communication Technology tools promote the teaching and learning of Physics, to identify the opportunities that arise from the use of Information and Communication Technology tools in the teaching of Physics and to identify the challenges that arise from the use of Information and Communication Technology tools in the teaching of Physics. The researcher used case study method to gather information, five Heads, ten teachers and fifty learners were sampled. The research instruments used included questionnaires, document analysis and observations. The research study established that to a larger extent Information and Communication Technology tools promote the teaching and learning of Physics at Ordinary Level. Several opportunities were derived from the use of Information and Communication Technology tools in the teaching of Physics. However, the research identified some challenges in the use of Information and Communication Technology in teaching and learning Physics, these include lack of computer skills among Physics teachers failing to purchase data and to subscribe Wi-Fi and also some schools do not have functional computer labs. The five selected schools represent Sanyati District as a whole and probably the nation itself as the sample was selected balancing rural and urban schools
