- Abstract
- Despite the training and development provided by Chitungwiza Municipality to its employees, it has been challenging to positively affect in the daily operation of the organization. The main thrust of this research is to highlight on the difficulties that Chitungwiza Municipality has in transference of knowledge. Kirkpatrick‘s evaluation model of training was used as a guide in the theoretical framework. In a bid to compliment the study, empirical evidence was also utilised. A qualitative research design was employed using a case study. An interview and thematic analysis were used as a data collection method and a sample of 24 participants was drawn from the population of 500 participants using purposive sampling technique. It also makes use of purposive sampling technique. Tables and discussions were used in the data presentation and analysis process. The key research findings showed that training and development is of paramount importance to employee and organisational performance. Recommendations were also made that training and development should be incorporated in the overall strategy of the organization so as to ensure that the objective of the organization is met
