This research investigates the impact of e-procurement on efficiency in procurement processes within Zimbabwean parastatals. The study employs a purposive sampling method, involving 72 respondents from various parastatals, to gather insights into the perceptions and experiences of professionals involved in procurement activities. A combination of structured questionnaires and interviews is used to collect data, employing a Likert scale for quantitative responses. The study aims to achieve three key objectives: first, to assess the familiarity and understanding of e-procurement concepts among procurement professionals; second, to analyse the influence of e-procurement on the efficiency of procurement planning; and third, to evaluate how e-procurement impacts efficiency in sourcing and contract award processes. Descriptive data analysis techniques are applied to interpret the quantitative data gathered through the Likert scale. The findings reveal a diversified characteristic among respondents regarding their familiarity with e-procurement concepts, with 55.5% expressing agreement or strong agreement. However, confidence in understanding transparency aspects varied, with 46.6% expressing agreement or strong agreement. Regarding efficiency, the majority agree that e-procurement systems positively influence procurement planning (mean score: 3.4) and sourcing activities (mean score: 3.41). In contract award processes, positive perceptions are evident, with a mean score of 3.4. The study underscores the positive impact of e-procurement on efficiency within Zimbabwean parastatals. Participants widely acknowledge its role in planning, sourcing, and contract award processes. Thematic analysis highlights the instrumental role of e-procurement in minimizing errors, streamlining processes, and contributing to cost savings. Based on these findings, recommendations include continuous training programs to enhance familiarity with e-procurement concepts, ongoing assessment of e-procurement system usability, and the exploration of long-term effects on organizational performance.
