- The purpose of the research was to investigate the impact in the application of ICT in the teaching and learning of O Level Physics in Chinhoyi Urban, Makonde District. To carry out the study, the researcher adopted the Case Study Design. The researcher used a sample of three high schools. The sample was made up of eighteen students, six teachers, Three Heads of Departments, three Heads of Schools. The researcher used the purposive sampling techniques in sampling the students, teachers and Heads of Departments. Unstructured Interviews and Focus Group Interviews were used for data collection. The findings discussed and analysed using the thematic approach and linked with the related literature. It was found that ICT has a positive impact on teaching and learning of O Level Physics. Further, it was revealed that, despite the fact that the schools are partially equipped with ICT facilities and that teachers have positive attitudes towards the use of ICT as a pedagogical tool, they did not integrate ICT in teaching and learning effectively. The researcher concluded that availability, accessibility and user-ability of ICT resources significantly affect the integration of ICT in teaching and learning O Level Physics. Besides, ICT use as a pedagogical tool among teachers was found to be a problem that was attributed to lack of ICT integration skills and strategies in schools. Therefore, based on the above findings, the researcher recommends that the schools design an ICT strategy that aims at equipping teachers and students with knowledge and skills required for ICT integration. Secondly, there is need for the schools to invest more in ICT tools so that the access to ICT tools cannot be limited only in computer laboratories but expand through establishment of ICT resource centre’s that should include Physics Laboratories. In addition, ICT training should aim at training teachers with the appropriate pedagogical skills to use ICT for their teaching. The study findings are thought to be of importance to teachers, students, school administrators and Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE) in Zimbabwe.
