Abstract
This dissertation explores the benefits of integrating Information Technology (IT) in the teaching and learning of Physics at the Ordinary Level in Zimbabwe. As educational landscapes evolve, the adoption of IT in classrooms has emerged as a pivotal factor in enhancing pedagogical practices and student engagement. This study employs a qualitative research approach, utilizing in-depth interviews and focus group discussions to gather insights from educators, students, and educational administrators across various schools in Zimbabwe. The findings reveal that the integration of IT significantly enhances the learning experience by improving student motivation, facilitating interactive learning environments, and providing access to diverse educational resources. Technologies such as simulations, online learning platforms, and digital tools not only foster a deeper understanding of complex Physics concepts but also equip students with essential skills for the 21st century. Additionally, the study highlights challenges such as infrastructural limitations, inadequate training for teachers, and disparities in access to technology, which can impede effective integration. Ultimately, this research underscores the transformative potential of IT in Physics education, advocating for strategic investments in technology and training to harness its full benefits. The results contribute valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders aimed at improving the quality of science education in Zimbabwe, ultimately empowering students to thrive in an increasingly technological world.
