- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to explore the use of differentiated learning in Ordinary Level Mathematics learning activities. A qualitative approach was used in data analysis and discussion. For data generation document analysis and interviews were used. The sample for the study was made up of six teachers who were selected purposefully. Data were analysed according to the themes that were derived from the formulated research questions. The findings of this revealed that differentiated learning styles are important as they support each learner's learning process in Ordinary Level Mathematics, thus making it possible for them to reach their highest potential. This is in the sense that differentiated learning uses many strategies that deduce learners' different skills and interests. From the analysed and discussed data the researcher also noted that though the use of differentiated learning styles influences Ordinary Level Mathematics learning, some challenges are faced (i.e., it's time-consuming, putting pressure on teachers especially when it comes to syllabus covering). From the analyzed and discussed data, it can be concluded that the use of differentiated learning in Ordinary Level Mathematics is influenced by various factors, which can either have a positive or negative impact. The study recommends that the use of differentiated learning should be made mandatory so that learners can be engaged in learning more activities.
