Surface water quality assessment of the Cleveland dam

Urbanization, sewage treatment, industrialization, and agriculture are all examples of human involvement with water supplies. These activities have a quantitative and qualitative influence on water supplies. Measurements of concentrations of eight physicochemical and biological parameters were used to study the impact of human intervention on Cleveland dam hydrology. The factors to consider include pH, Dissolved oxygen, Chlorides, Electrical conductivity, Calcium, Total dissolved solids, and Temperature. Eight sites were evaluated from the north to the south of the dam. Microsoft Excel 2010 was used to evaluate the data and to make tables. From site A1 to site A8, pH, dissolved oxygen, chlorides, calcium, total dissolved solids, and temperature were all lower, while electrical conductivity was greater than the Zimbabwe National Water Authority and World Health Organization limits. The water quality index at Cleveland Dam varied from 26 to 50 percent, indicating poor water quality.
