- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between performance management and employee satisfaction at Tsepo Company. The study was guided by the following research objectives to determine employee perceptions on performance management, to examine the extent to which employee management influences employee satisfaction and to recommend ways in which performance management activities can be carried out without negative impacts on employee satisfaction. The study is a descriptive case study and data for this study was gathered using in-depth interviews and questionnaires which were issued to 25 participants. The research was guided by Herzberg’s two factor theory. The study revealed that perception of employees on performance management differ individually as some believe that the process gives them a sense of direction especially if it is fairly conducted. The findings also showed that the strongest driver of job satisfaction is the quality of performance management, followed by rewarding performance, performance planning, and performance appraisals. The study found that there is a strong positive relationship between performance management system and employee satisfaction. Lastly, it was also suggested that the organization should incorporate technology n conducting performance management and also include more appraisals for the workers so as to motivate them.
