Fingerprint- based access control system
- Abstract
- The objective of this project is to design and implement a fingerprint-based access control system tailored for the secure and efficient management of access to university premises. This system aims to serve as the primary verification and validation point for students and staff, ensuring that only authorised individuals can enter designated areas. By leveraging biometric fingerprint recognition technology, the system will offer a high level of security and convenience compared to traditional access methods. The core functionality of the system involves capturing and processing fingerprint data to verify user identities. Upon successful verification, authorized users will be granted access to specific areas within the university. The system is designed to handle multiple entry points, providing real-time access control and monitoring capabilities. In addition to the primary access control functionality, the system includes an administration console/interface. This administrative feature allows for efficient management of user data, including enrollment, deletion, and updating of fingerprint records. It also provides comprehensive logs and reports on access events, enabling administrators to monitor usage patterns and enhance security protocols. This system is designed to streamline access control processes, enhance security, and provide a user-friendly interface for both end-users and administrators. By implementing this fingerprint-based access control system, the university aims to ensure a secure environment for all students and staff while simplifying administrative operations related to access management.
