.Occupational Safety and Health culture is essential for reducing accidents in the workplace and ensuring employee welfare. This research explores safety trends and elements of OSH and their correlation with workplace accident rates at the Afreximbank Africa Trade Centre Project from January 2023 to January 2025. The study aims to determine whether a stronger safety culture leads to fewer workplace incidents, helping to identify areas for improvement in safety management. A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing structured questionnaires and workplace accident reports to collect data. A total of 171 questionnaires were distributed to employees, with 150 valid responses analyzed, achieving an 87.72% response rate. The study examined accident rates, safety perceptions, and management engagement. IBMS SPSS Statistics 20 software was used to assess the relationship between OSH culture and workplace incidents, ensuring a robust evaluation of safety trends.
Employee perceptions towards OSH culture were moderate to strong, with positive ratings in regards to management response to safety, safety communication, and employee involvement, but problems in relation to slow corrective measures and non-workable safety regulations were perceived. The Chi-square test indicated a statistically significant relationship (p< 0.05) between the OSH culture and accident rates, which reflects the urgent necessity of adopting proactive safety programs. This paper shows that improved OSH culture results in fewer accidents at work. Regular safety education will also help to reduce injury cases in the Afreximbank Africa Trade Centre Project by improving safety management effectiveness, safety communication, and safety rules and regulations.
