- Abstract
- The provision for the manufacture of submersible pumps is still being a challenge, especially in developing countries like Zimbabwe. This has resulted in high costs of these pumps since they are being imported from Asian and European countries. The purpose of this study was to design and fabricate a tool that can be used for fishing out drawn submersible pumps that have fallen into the borehole due to loose connections and many other reasons. The tool is also to be used for borehole checks, checking the depth of casing and borehole depth as number of crooks have increased in the borehole drilling industry. The goal was to minimise the costs of buying new pumps as they are expensive hence, just fishing it out and re-use the pump will be cheap. Another goal was to do borehole check just after the drilling process so that the client would verify if the job has been done perfectly by checking depth of borehole and checking depth of borehole casing before the installation process. The tool has been fabricated using some recycled material and very few new components so as to reduce cost so that it becomes affordable.
